Day 2: TechTop Workshop

Day 2 at Techtop Workshop

Today we again spent the day in the classroom learning some new skills. In the morning we spent some time downloading EAGLE, a software that we use to design circuits board to be printed. We learned about the different libraries and components we can attach into our circuit. We also learned that when you go from the scheme to the board and must route all the components and connections, nothing can overlap. This is the basis for our electrical engineering part of the design. Soon we will use this in our own products and add our own things.

We may have skipped some class to go shopping for toilet paper and soap.

The second part of the day was spent downloading and learning Sketch Up, a design software for our 3D CADD. It's a simple software but creates objects very easily and it helps us visualize products. We can scale them and many other things.

Today was my introduction to electrical and mechanical engineering design, and this will soon be the basis of product design. I am excited to see how we will apply our new skills in these softwares to the actual making process.

We were shown how a mill works that "carves" out the circuit onto a copper board.
