Day 18: MIT Make in India

Day 18: MIT Make in India

In the morning, we all got on the bus for our day trip into Trivandrum. None of us really knew the plan or where we were going, but we all boarded the not so party bus at 8:30.

We ended up going to a sari weaving place. It was pretty amazing to see the old machine mechanisms flawlessly weave the saris together. They even use gold thread, which made the saris about 50,000+ rupees and me unable to even consider buying one. It was fascinating nonetheless. We went to their storehouse as well, and people tried on the saris for pictures. It was hilarious! They looked great. And if only I had the video of Daivon's dance... too good. Also people pet the many dogs from the house across the road. I don't like dogs.

Beautiful Sharon and Titan!

After that we went to a restaurant for lunch where the vegetarian order came like a solid hour after the non-veg order. We were quite unhappy. Though the food was decent.

After lunch, we went to one handicrafts store (where I bought my sister an overpriced but super soft elephant shawl) and an organic store (where I bought mango juice...because...yeah). This whole trip tired me for no reason and was a pretty useless trip in my opinion, but it was still nice to get out of the house.

We drove back (I half asleep and half hanging out the window) and I kinda plopped on my bed and slept for about an hour. Then I woke up in a haze, hobbled into the main room, and ate a mango. People had just been playing carrom all the rest of the night. We took a short walk to get some lozenges for the throat (that wonderful sickness thanks to Chingy) and came back and still played carrom. Unproductive day.
