Day 19: MIT Make in India
Today was a rather slow day with some progress. We all woke up, taking our sweet time to come and work in the lab that is now littered with wires and strepsils wrappers. There was the dietary restrictions talk “led” by Duncan and kinda happened kinda not. I didn't really do that much as I would have liked. The morning was slow, but I tried to help Deepika with the electronics component a bit while Aishwarya and Forest worked on SolidWorks. We know have a shark!
We ate lunch, and I gave a mini selfie lesson.
Then Aarooran, Duncan, and I set out to do something we all really wanted to do for our very nice ECG technician Preetha. We didn't have the time to fix her suction cups for the machine, but we were able to buy her soap (and refills), towels and a hanger for them, as well as pens for her record keeping. Though we bounced store to store until we found exactly what we needed (plus Duncan got his mango juice). She was very happy and mentioned that the hospital does not give these despite how much they request it. She wished that every staff in the hospital could also receive the care package we gave her. She showed us her cute one year old son and we took a selfie together.

We all felt like finally we have found one problem and solved it. It wasn’t anything big, but it really was a problem and we gave a temporary solution to it.
With that good feeling, I attempted to go back to work on the electronics. I didn’t really do much, but I guess I still spent some time being frustrated with the Arduino and some of its incapabilities. The only way you can play sound files on it was through SD card reader or using MP3 and USB. We want to make our fun trash can make chomping noises but using as well electronics as possible (1. it’s a trash can, and 2. less expensive).
I half worked, half derped the afternoon and evening. I was present for the very interesting talk about names for the soap, which had some hilarious names. I taught some people how to use chopsticks, helped blow out two potentiometers, and got tricked my Jaspreet who made me come outside to hear some college kids try to sell us books (still angry). Don’t think I can forgive him for that now. That was suffering.
After that was basically more meh and strepsils until dinner. Then the same time waste. Tomorrow Raj comes back...
